24 Apr A touch of Ikat
While too much ikat pattern in a scheme can make you go cross-eyed, I love a splash of it on lampshades and cushions. The style is named after a classic Asian textile and it offers a brilliant way to add a slightly exotic flavour to a scheme.
Pooky.com, the new (ish) lighting brand sells a great range of ikat lampshades from £90 each. For more shades – and a host of other accessories emblazoned with Ikat designs, also try oka.com.
For simple ikat-style fabrics by the metre, have a look at the Echo Collection by Baker Lifestyle, in particular the Bansuri range, available for £69 a metre from fabricsandpapers.com.
If cushions are what you are after, look at the range of Mariska Meijers cushions at amara.com.
