14 Nov Meet CommonRoom
CommonRoom makes high quality art accessible by commissioning original designs from contemporary artists to make into wallpaper, designed to challenge and excite. In addition they have produced an archival collection commemorating the great history of artist wallpapers and are increasing their product range to include home furnishings and contemporary artworks alongside their wallpapers.
Launched in 2014 by London-based artist Kate Hawkins before being joined by Sarah McClean, their contemporary and archival ranges bridge the worlds of art and interiors. All their wallpapers are designed and made sustainably in the UK. This supports British manufacturing and helps minimise carbon footprint.
Harlequin was designed by Fee Greening (b 1990). A Dorset based artist and illustrator specialising in dip pen and ink. Inspired by Medieval, Gothic and Flemish art, she graduated from Central St Martin’s in 2012 and received a Masters from the Royal Collect of Art in 2014. Her impressive roster of commercial clients include among others: Alex Eagle, Alexa Chung, Faber & Faber, Florence + The Machine, Fortnum & Mason, Gucci, Liberty London, Martini, Sony Music, Tate and The Royal Court Theatre.
