Much as I’m a sucker for classic English style, I love the spirit of the new generation of modern English textiles, many of them designed by artists and illustrators such as Mark Hearld, a painter/printmaker who designs a range of wallpapers and fabrics for St Judes. His Harvest Hare design, is printed onto a wonderfully weighty linen perfect for upholstery and curtains (£66 a metre stjudesfabrics.co.uk) or £66 a roll for the wallpaper.
Angie Lewin, artist, printmaker and founder of St Judes has re-launched this fabulous Dandelion Two, again screen printed onto a heavyweight oyster linen union (£66 a metre stjudesfabrics.co.uk).
Slightly more classic in style is Lewis & Wood’s Deer Park fabric, taken from an original wood engraving they commissioned from artist Andrew Davidson and printed on linen (£84 a metre lewisandwood.co.uk).
